Kamrup Polytechnic was established by Govt. of Assam at Baihata Chariali in the year 2017 under the scheme of establishing 21 new polytechnics in the state of Assam. It is 1.5 Km from National Highway 31 and is well connected with nearby towns like Rangiya, Nalbari and Guwahati by road and Railways. The National Highway 15 is connecting Baihata Chariali to Eastern Assam via Tezpur. It is about half an hour journey from Guwahati, 30 Km from Jalukbari. The Baihata Railway Station is at a distance of only 5 km from the institute. The institute is located in village AliPub, Barbangsharmouza, district Kamrup, Assam within 26.34420N and 91.71980E. Situated at the foothills of Dewangiri hill known for Madan Kamdev temple, it is surrounded by mystique natural beauty. The institute is spread over an area of 9.0 acres. The area was popularly known as LichuBagan by the locals. Some places of interest in the area is Madan Kamdev archeological site built by Pala dynasty of Kamrup Kingdom, Gopeshwar temple of village Deuduar. RadhaKuchi is situated in the north of Baihata. The institute is offering three years diploma courses in Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication and Mechanical (Automobile) Engineering which is approved by All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi. It is affiliated to State council of Technical Education, Assam. With the aim and objective of producing value based quality technical manpower, the academic session kicked off with its first batch of student from 1st August, 2017.
